Reamer "Ray" Locklear, 82, passed into Glory on Presidents Day February 21st 2011. Predeceased by parents Willie & George Locklear, Daughter Barbara Ward, Great Grand children Tyler & Anthony Merkle II, and Daughter in law Rachael Locklear. Survived by his wife Pamela with their son Shenandoah LeRay Locklear, and son Thomas Ray Locklear his mother Arlouine Bryan, two step sons Randal & Richard, Grandsons Anthony, Jason, Joshua & Michael and a Grand daughter Sarah, a Sister, Louise Melton, Nieces, Brenda Crosby and Susan Pittman along with many others. Ray was born in Waycross, GA in the year 1928. At age 16 he joined and Served over seas as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII. Moved to Jacksonville in early 1950's, Ray was a owner/operator of a auto fuel depot during the 1960's for Sinclair Oil, would later become an Owner/operator in the automotive sales industry during the 70's and 80's at Jacksonville Beach on Beach Boulevard & 9th St. Ray loved the simpler things in life, loved fishing & boating, would go from the ocean's sea to a backyard pond just to wet a hook, cooking a good steak on the grill (no catsup please), loved cartoons like Snuffy Smith & the lockhorns, almost would never miss a TV show of "Hee Haw" or the Dukes of Hazard with his sidekick dogs "Toby" and later "Lady" by his side and most recently "Buddy", their nicknames of "Mutt" in love applied to all. Ray Loved the smell of fresh cut grass and the look of a well manicured lawn. Would keep his vehicle spotless and you could cut your finger on a crease in his just ironed clothes, a Military made man that when all is said and done, "did good", Ray attended First Baptist Church down town with his wife Pamela for some time, This time helped in part in the Lord preparing Ray's heart to receive Jesus Christ as His Lord and savior! Reamer "Ray" Locklear was not perfect, but for a simple man he could not have left this stage in life any better, simply; forgiven! Thank you Jesus! The Family thanks all who have expressed their words of sympathy & love via e-mails and in person for our loss, Ray & Pamela's wishes of a cremation will be followed by a spreading of the ashes at sea ceremony, God Bless and God's Best.
