SKAINS - After a long illness, John Douglas Skains passed away peacefully on March 15, 2011. John was born on February 16, 1942 in Calhoun, LA.

John is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, John Skains, Jr.; his stepson, Danny Wainwright; his stepdaughter, Jill Whilden; his sister, Lanelle (Harvey) Hudnall of Fort Myers, FL; sister, Ina (Ray) McDougle of Muscle Shoals, AL; sister, Evelyn Skains of Rogersville, AL; sister, Glenda (Ray) Smith of Killen, AL; and his brother Gary (Sybil) Skains of Muscle Shoals, AL.

John was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Richardson. Also by his dear friend, Kitty Kat.

John was a member of Masonic Duval Lodge #159. John enjoyed hunting and Cajun music. He will be remembered for his love for animals.

Per John’s instructions there will be no memorial service. The family would like to extend many thanks and appreciation to the NE Florida Community Hospice and Baptist Medical Center South.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in John’s name.
