Dennis Allen Carter, 65, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL after a brief illness. He was born in Norwalk, CT on September 6, 1945 to the late George Carter and Eleonor (Seaman) Carter Toth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Judy (Keplinger) Carter of Gaffney, SC. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Carter Wilson of Gaffney, SC; brother, Glenn Carter (wife, Turid) of Norway; 2 grandchildren: Kelsey Wells and Devin Wilson, of Gaffney, SC; 1 niece and several nephews; and 2 special friends, Claudette Beverly (and family) and Kathleen Persons.

He served in the Navy on the USS YORKTOWN in Vietnam, and was also in the Navy Reserve; later he retired from Publix Supermarkets after 20 years of service.

He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing and, at one time, restoring old English sport cars. He enjoyed on-line poker with his brother in Norway, and he also loved to read and was always interested in learning all he could about everything.
