James L. Douglas

James Lloyd Douglas, 83 of Jacksonville, FL passed away on May 3, 2011. He was born December 31, 1927 in Stuart, Nebraska.

James attended high school in Pender Nebraska until he turned 18, when he enlisted in the United States Army. He served 3 years, as a projectionist and as an instructor at The Signal School in Fort Monmouth, NJ. He left the army in 1949, as a Sergeant and was issued the World War II Victory Medal. After leaving the service he worked for RCA, starting as a motion picture projectionist, then installing and servicing of industrial products, then training, instructing personnel on maintaining and repairing electronics, which included 2 years of working in Japan. In the 1960's living in New Jersey, Jim worked his way up through the company, to the aerospace division of RCA. Building satellites for NASA was the greatest assignment of all, to Jim. In 1974, he and Mary Lou moved the family to South Florida where he lived until moving to Jacksonville in August of 2010.

He was preceded in death by his father William Lloyd Douglas; his mother Eva Jewel Wilson Hinrich; his half sister June Douglas Weight; and his grandson Chad Matthew Pinder.

He is survived by his sister Patricia Elliott, Grand Junction CO; his son James R. (Mary) Douglas of Wellington, FL; his daughters Sheree Pinder (Cees Teljer) of Jupiter, FL and Clair (Michael) Hart of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 niece and 2 nephews.
