William Raiford passed away on June 4, 2010. He was born in Moultrie, Georgia on September 7, 1924. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and after the war returned to Moultrie where he worked for the Moultrie Observer until 1959. He and his family moved to Jacksonville in 1959 when William was hired by the Florida Times-Union. He retired from the Times-Union in 1987 after 27 years.
He is predeceased by his father, Bobby; mother, Ruth; brothers Robert, Ralph, and Henry; sisters Louise and Ruth. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Ellen, and his fishing legends to his sons, Timothy and Robert (Bella). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Courtney (Kevin); Philip and Katie; and his great-grandson, Parker, as well as his many nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held in Moultrie, Georgia on June 19, 2010.
