Obituary

With grateful hearts we celebrate the remarkable life of Andrew A. Clark III, who left us to embark on his next big adventure on July 22, 2026, at the age of 72.

Andrew leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years, Susan Stenman Clark of Fernandina Beach, FL; his cherished daughter, Riley Anne Clark (Tanner West) of Winston-Salem, NC; and numerous cousins and valued friends, whose lives were enriched by knowing him. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew A. Clark, Jr., and Mary Frances Clark.

Andrew attended Norland Senior High School, followed by Florida International University in Miami, before starting his career in electronic technology. After years in the private sector, Andrew relocated to central Florida and was employed by the City of Lakeland. He retired in 2015, and he and Susie began their next chapter in a new home in Fernandina Beach.

Andrew's trademark dry humor often arrived so subtly that it caught people a beat too late - just the way he liked it. A devoted music aficionado, Andrew believed there was a soundtrack for every occasion. His celebratory nature lent itself to contagious laughter, stimulating conversation, and a feeling of inclusion.

Perhaps what defined Andrew most was his sweet kindness. He was always ready to offer a helping hand, even earning the neighborhood nickname "Hurricane Hero" in the aftermath of an epic Category 5 storm. Thoughtful, brave, and insightful were all characteristics he possessed to the benefit of others. Above all, his moral compass never failed to point in the right direction.

Andrew gave us countless stories, unforgettable one-liners, and an endless volume of memories. While he will be fondly remembered, those who knew him best can honor his memory by turning up the music, raising a glass, lending a hand, and finding something worth celebrating each and every day.

Andrew's life-long dream of being launched into space will be realized in December at Cape Canaveral, details to follow. In honor of Andrew, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association to further benefit research.
