Barbara Milano, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was 73 years old. Barbara has gone home to be with the Lord where her mother, father and her favorite Aunt Vickie were waiting for her at Heaven’s gates.
Born on November 25, 1951, in Jacksonville—a city she lovingly called a “boomerang city,” where people may leave, but always return—Barbara’s life was filled with love, laughter, and unique passions that made her unforgettable. She was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, delighting in his music and movies, and could often be found singing along to classic rock, especially the tunes of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Barbara had an eye for beauty and nostalgia, especially when it came to classic cars like Corvettes and vintage antiques. Her heart belonged to cats, and she had a special affection for all things Hawaiian.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, John Milano; her two children, Jennifer Hicks (Scott Hicks) and Kel Kendrick; and her grandchildren, Tyler Eason, Haiden Rentschler, and Peyton Rentschler. She is also survived by her brother Jeff Lewis (Gretta Lewis) and their son Cuyler Lewis. Her impact on their lives will never fade.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, followed by a lunch at 11:00 a.m. to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a woman who gave so much to so many.
Barbara's spirit lives on in every classic rock song played, every Elvis movie watched, and every cat curled in a sunny window.
Barbara will be dearly missed, but her love and laughter will echo on.
