Carmen Camunez Gomez
Haynes
May 28, 1944 — October 7, 2026
Jacksonville
Carmen was born in Osuna, Sevilla Province, Spain, to Francisco Camuñez Marquez and Encarnacion Gomez Garcia, and was part of a large family of siblings. After spending her early years in Spain, she later moved to the United States, bringing with her a vibrant spirit and a deep pride in her Spanish cultural traditions.
A talented and passionate cook, Carmen found her greatest joy in feeding those she loved. She was known for her authentic Spanish dishes, always eager to share her recipes, offer lively culinary critiques, and narrate colorful stories from her life that brought laughter and smiles to everyone. Guided by a generous heart, she was always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Above all else, Carmen’s greatest pride was her family. She was the loving mother of Marco, and later opened her heart and home to adopt Mike, Thomas, and Jessica, raising all of her children with wholehearted devotion. Her legacy carries on through her four children, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews in Spain.
She will be dearly missed, and will always be remembered for her strength, passion, and perseverance. In accordance with Carmen's wishes, a private family memorial service and celebration of life will be held at home and by the ocean on October 30th, 2026. The family extends their deepest gratitude for your continued love, support, and prayers during this time.
