Obituary

Carvell Reece Henderson, born on November 26, 1983 in New Orleans, LA was sent to his eternal home on November 9, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida, due to his exhausting fight against cancer. He was the beloved son of Jon and Charmaine Henderson.

Carvell, as he was affectionately known, was a big teddy bear and protector of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to the ones closest to him. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Carvell is survived by his loving parents, Charmaine and Jon, his wife Joy, daughter Amara, multiple bonus children, his brothers Jonathan, Daniel and Steven, in-laws Peter and Annette Flanagan, Leando and Sallye Gabriel, four sister in-laws, and three brother in-laws. Carvell was preceded in death by Katherine Clanton Brown, Faye Brown, Ada and Roosevelt Henderson. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and great godchildren who adored him dearly.

After his graduation from Orange Park High School where he originally met his wife, Carvell studied mechanics and enjoyed working on vehicles. Eventually after running into his wife again in 2004, they started on their journey through life together. Carvell and Joy married in February 2006 and welcomed their daughter into the world in December 2006. Carvell decided to switch areas of the automotive field to part sales where he spent the last 14 years working at Napa Auto Parts. During his tenure at Napa, he transitioned to parts expeditor for the NAS Car Care Center. He met many people that appreciated his knowledge in the automotive field and determination to find the right part for the job.

Outside of work, Carvell loved to spend time with friends and family as well as teaching the next generation about simple work on vehicles including his daughter. Carvell was always willing to lend a hand or walk someone through a problem.

Those who knew Carvell will remember him for his infectious smile, comforting hugs, overwhelming laughter and sarcasm. Everyone that crossed his path was treated like family and could always count on him when needed. Even if it was to give a lecture that usually ended with a bear hug of love.

The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Carvell Reece Henderson will be held on November 26, 2025, at 4pm at his home. Bring a small serving of your favorite cookout dishes if you want.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to: https://www.supportnow.org/carvell-r-henderson. Or to send a video to his Facebook page of you doing a burnout, donuts, or even a simple oil change. Those that participate in his passion for vehicles understand he would be cheering and joining in.

Although Carvell's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.

Carvell's ashes will be given to his family to spread them as they see fit.
