Charles Michael Barry, 84, of Jacksonville, FL passed at The Gables Assisted Living on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 7:40am.

Charles was born in Saint Augustine, FL on January 26, 1942, and grew up in Jacksonville, FL. He attended Loretto Elementary School and Landon High School. He dated Linda Appleby who would soon become his first wife and the mother of his only son. He joined the army at the tail end of the Korean War before working for CSX railroad. Charles then went to Jacksonville University where he further pursued his education in psychology and theology. He spent many years as a mental health counselor and retired from Honeywell. He spent some time living in Cedar Key, FL and Saint Augustine, FL before he went to live with his son, Chase, until the end of his life.

There will be a graveside service for Charles on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at high noon at Mandarin Cemetery, where he will be buried with his brother Terrel “Terry” Wayne Barry. The two brothers will be laid to rest near their mother and stepfather.

Following the service, loved ones and friends may feel free to meet at Chase’s house for gumbo and cornbread.
