Obituary

Elizabeth “Geri” Kopins Johnson-Ruane, age 81, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on November 13, 2023.

She was born to Dr. Howard J. Kopins and Lucelia (Rice) Kopins on October 15, 1942, in New Rochelle, NY and graduated from Ursuline School in 1960. A member of Holy Family Church, she was the Choir Extraordinaire minister and lector. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of 1812, Daughters of American Colonists, Mayflower, Colonial Dames, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Red Hats, Southside Newcomers, and Meals on Wheels. She will be remembered for her smiling face, her love of singing, and the hats she wore.

Mrs. Johnson-Ruane was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Kopins. Survivors include her beloved husband, Kevin Ruane; sons, Leslie, and Robert Johnson; daughter, Jennifer Rapicioli; granddaughters, Alexis Rapicioli and Kathryn Blythe Johnson; sister, Mary Kopins of SC; and brother, Howard Kopins of MI.

Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Baymeadows Rd., Jacksonville, FL at 11am on Tuesday, November 28th, with Father John Reynolds officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Loretto Rd., at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Church Respect Life and Holy Family School.
