Obituary

Emmanuel S Flores, 69, passed away in his sleep on June 24th, 2026. In the face of sudden and aggressive illness, he demonstrated unwavering strength resilience and dignity surrounded by his loved ones.

Emmanuel - known as "Manny" by most and "Manuel" by family - was born December 1956 in Palawan, Philippines to the late Jose Flores and Remedios Sanchez Flores. He was the eighth of ten children and is remembered as a stubborn and playful child; qualities that he carried throughout his life.

Manny had a lengthy and successful career as a registered nurse. After graduating from Capitol Medical Center in Manila, Philippines, he worked at Fabella Memorial Hospital where he eventually met his wife, Pilar, "Larcy.” In 1981 they were married and welcomed their first child. Ever the hard-working and determined family man, he sacrificed many years of his life to work internationally in the Middle East to provide for his family who remained in the Philippines. During this time, he and his wife expanded their family and had their second daughter. Through the challenges of a long-distance marriage, they grew stronger as a couple and demonstrated unwavering devotion to another. Their children still remember the couple sending recorded messages to another when international phone calls were difficult and costly. Memories of Manny's messages to his family are forever instilled in their minds and hearts. Manny's work eventually took him to New Jersey where after many years of hard work, he was able to finally establish himself and his family. His career in the United States spanned New Jersey, Florida, and California where his reputation of hard work followed him until his retirement in 2018.

After retirement he came back to Florida for a couple years where he was able to spend time with his children and his grandchildren. Eventually Manny and his wife returned to the Philippines where, as retirees, they focused on Manny's lifelong goals of real estate and development. There Manny and Larcy stayed for 5 years until the need for medical care called them back to Florida to be with their family.

Restless is a word often associated with Manny. He never rested. There was always a new DIY project that needed to be done and Larcy spent much of her time supporting him with his next task. He always took pride in his homes and was often seen gardening or building. No task was too big; no detail was too small when it came to his projects.

Perhaps his favorite place was the Philippines. He always knew that was where he was going to retire. He often boasted of his childhood in Palawan and wished to be able to show his grandchildren where he grew up. Forever an island boy, Manny would be the little speck swimming out in the middle of the ocean on any given beach day, and no seafood was ever off limits.

Manny loved to have fun and was always the life of the party. He loved entertaining and was always known as a great host, ensuring his guests had a good time. There was never enough food, drinks or karaoke when Manny was around. He loved being social and welcomed all of his guests with open arms. You would rarely see Manny without a huge smile on his face joking with lifelong friends and acquaintances alike.

Although Manny accomplished much throughout his life and career, his greatest source of pride was always his family. Every sacrifice he made, every goal he pursued, and every achievement he celebrated was for the future of his wife, children, and grandchildren. Of all the roles he held, being a Lolo was perhaps his most cherished. There was nothing he would not have done for his three grandchildren who brought immeasurable happiness to his life.

Manny was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Remedios Flores as well as his sisters Zenaida Flores and Filipina Espanola.

Manny is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Larcy; his two daughters, Milarmie and Bea, and Bea's husband, Chuck; his grandchildren, Kaia, Croix, and Wrenn; his five sisters; his two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews

Manny will forever be remembered for his strength, unwavering integrity, and boundless love for his family. That love is the legacy he leaves behind. In his final days, he was surrounded by an extraordinary outpouring of prayers, love, and support from the many lives he touched. While our hearts are broken by his sudden passing, we are deeply grateful for the memories we shared and for the privilege of being loved by Manny. His love, laughter, and example will remain with us always.
