Ethel May Lindsley Skidmore, aged 90, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022, after a prolonged illness {not covid}. She was born September 4, 1931, to Vera Collins Lindsley and T. Edgar S. Lindsley in Waterville, Maine. She was a 1949 graduate of Bingham High School, Bingham, Maine. In 1964, she moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida with her six children and husband. Preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Thomas E. Lindsley; her sister, Irene L. Foster; her husband, Kleber K. Skidmore, daughter Vivian {Skidmore} Nix Hendricks, and great-granddaughter Shelby Stevens. She is survived by daughter Lynette Adams {Robert, II} Stover; son Steven D. {Belinda} Adams, daughter Joyce Adams {Daniel Wayne} Breckenridge, son Brian E. {Zhan Hua Wu} Adams; and daughter Ruth H. {James} Berlinghoff; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Retired from Winn Dixie in Fernandina Beach, she enjoyed many years of travel, especially to visit her sons in the military. Her travels included trips to Alaska and Hawaii, Germany, and Morocco. Ethel’s optimism and her beautiful laugh will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held June 5 in Jacksonville, Florida. Details will be announced at a later date.
