Gary Ward Seabrook

July 17, 1945 — June 4, 2020

Gary Ward Seabrook, 74, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2020. He was born in Norwich, Connecticut to Eleanor and Bruce Smith.

Gary lived a very healthy lifestyle, loved to cycle and workout, loved his puppy Sophie… and had a great passion for music. He continued his guitar lessons through the end of his life with dedication and enjoyment. Gary was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing his many creations with friends and family.

Gary was quite adventurous, sailing to Tahiti, Hawaii and the Marquesas Islands in his early 30’s. He travelled extensively and as an adult lived in California, Guam, Hawaii and Florida. After being bit by the sailing bug he continued in the marine business for the rest of his career.

Until recently Gary worked for HMS Global Maritime, American Queen Steamboat Company, where he had become Executive Vice President. He particularly enjoyed working with the on-board entertainers and loved the opportunity to perform with them. He had high expectations for himself and all those who worked with him.

Gary will be remembered as a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Gary was preceded in death by both parents and a sister. He is survived by his long-time partner Kathleen Mannion, beloved daughter Fanya Seabrook, two grandchildren, Quinn and Nico Miller, and siblings Bruce (Linda), Larry (Betty) and Robert Smith. He was dedicated to his two close friends John Vissat and John Waggoner.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make contribution to the Brooks Adaptive Sports and Recreation program in Jacksonville, FL or the American Heart Association.
