Helene Joanne Smith, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Joanne was born on March 12, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Sidney R. Smith, Sr. and Patricia R. (Smith) Milbee. She graduated from Sandalwood High School in 1972 and was a life-long Jacksonville resident. Joanne was a retired commercial account manager and a Certified Insurance Counselor employed by Cecil W. Powell & Co for nearly 30 years.

Joanne loved Jesus. She also loved all children - everywhere. She served many years as church coordinator for Operation Christmas Child and CHRISTmas Joy, sending shoebox gifts of toys and school supplies to children all over the world.

Along with her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her sister, Trina L. Smith. She is survived by five siblings: Melony F. Vermillion, Sidney R. Smith, Jr (Susan), Rhonda L. Johns (Kevin), Jennie R. Thomas (Joshua) and David J. Milbee, 5 nephews, 4 nieces, 9 great nieces and nephews as well as many extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Living Faith Church with Pastor Wayne A. Young officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations of new toys such as matchbox cars, small stuffed animals and pencils to support the shoebox ministry are appreciated.
