Jacquelyn Deane Tinsley

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Deane Tinsley, daughter of the late Charles Thomas Tinsley, Jr. and Mrs. Harriett Crawford Tinsley, passed away on July 18, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Jackie grew up in Richmond, Jacksonville, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia.

After graduating from North Fulton High School in Atlanta, Jackie worked in the travel industry for Eastern Air Lines, Pan Am, and Western Airlines and managed multiple travel agencies. Jackie’s twenty-year career allowed her to meet new people, travel the world, and live in culturally significant cities such as Atlanta, Honolulu, Seattle, and Los Angeles. She returned to Jacksonville to be close to her family in the 1980s.

Jackie was an avid traveler and award-winning photographer who loved exploring different cultures and wandering museums. Some of her favorite travel memories included photographing animals on safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Botswana; collecting local masks and artwork in San Miguel, Mexico; and enjoying Broadway shows in New York City.

Jackie graciously cared for her younger brother late in life and gained immense joy sharing stories and artifacts with local students teaching them about Mexican culture. Jackie’s interests and hobbies were as diverse as her travels. She loved animals, especially cocker spaniels and tabby cats, reading, westerns, documentaries, cold margaritas, warm blankets, and afternoon naps.

Jackie is survived by her nephew, Charles Thomas “Chip” Tinsley, IV (Katie) of Atlanta, Georgia; her niece Allison Tinsley Smith (Brendon) of Tampa, Florida; her great nephew, Davis, and great nieces, Mae and Emma Kate, of Atlanta, Georgia. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Thomas (Tom) Tinsley III.

Memorial services will be held privately with close family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
