James Earl Thornton, 93, of Jacksonville Beach, Fl, went to Heaven on June 6, 2026.

Born to John Howard Thornton & Blanche Florence Thornton on December 5, 1932, in Supply, NC, James joined the U.S. Army after graduating high school. He retired from Pantry Pride. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Linda Lee Thornton on May 6, 1983.

James will be remembered for his honesty and trusted friendship. He was very patriotic. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

James is survived by his wife of 43 happy years Linda, son Andy Thornton (Michel), daughter Angela Ferguson (Bret), stepsons Steve Parris, Mark Parris (Nicole) & Kevin Parris (Crystal), fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held from 11am-1pm on July 18, 2026, at Mark and Nicole’s house. The festivities will take place outside, so please feel free to wear casual clothing.
