Joan Elizabeth Magargal

July 15, 1934 — June 20, 2024

Joan Elizabeth Magargal went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday morning June 20, 2024, at the age of 89. Just shy of her 90th birthday at Baptist South Center for Caring.

She was born to Ruth Myrtis and Charles Fisher Magargal in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on July 15, 1934, and graduated from Taylor High School of Sanderson Florida in 1953.

Joan received her Nursing Degree in 1965 and became a Surgical Nurse in 1971. She always commented on how much she loved her career and working in surgery.

She was a fabulous seamstress. She sewed clothing for her whole family as well as costumes, swimsuits and even wedding gowns. No sewing challenge was too big for her. She was always crafting and even learned how to crochet in her later years. She also loved cooking and experimenting with different cultures and cuisines. Anyone who knew her will say she was a great cook. She loved fishing her whole life and was always game to go. Joan was a huge animal lover, and she especially enjoyed feeding them. She loved traveling and even did a mission trip to Nicaragua with her longtime Church home, Northside Church of God.

Joan was kind and generous and had a great sense of humor and could always be counted on when anyone was in need.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Donald Lee Intili, brothers Malvin Magargal, Eric Taylor and sister Mary Rogers as well as many other family members and loved ones.

She is survived by her daughter Ruth Intili, her sister Shirley Johns, sister-in-law Marguerite Magargal, grandsons Victor (Ilyn) Intili, Michael (Jennifer) Intili,

Great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other friends and family.

She will be deeply missed but her legacy will live on through the cherished memories held by loved ones.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Baptist South Hospice Care as well as Community Hospice of Jacksonville Florida.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Celebration of life will be held by family.
