IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Anthony
Boyle
July 8, 1953 – February 18, 2026
John Anthony Boyle, 72, passed away on February 18, 2026. Born on July 8, 1953, in Baytown, Texas, John grew up in the community that shaped the strong sense of duty and determination that would define the rest of his life.
In 1973, John answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. Over the next 22 years, he built a proud and honorable career, ultimately retiring in 1995 as a Damage Controlman Chief Senior (DCCS). As a Chief Petty Officer, John was entrusted with the responsibility of leading sailors, mentoring younger shipmates, and ensuring the safety and readiness of those under his charge. He lived the Navy’s core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, earning the respect of fellow sailors and leaders throughout his service.
The title of “Chief” was not simply a rank to John—it was a responsibility and a brotherhood he carried with pride long after leaving active duty. Those who served with him knew him as a dependable shipmate and a leader who took care of his people.
Following his retirement from the Navy, John continued his hardworking spirit in civilian life, working for Lowe’s until he eventually retired. No matter where life placed him, his dedication to duty and his sense of responsibility remained constant.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Marie Boyle, whom he recently celebrated 51 dedicated years of marriage. His daughter Dawn C. Boyle carries on John’s sacrifice and care through her own love for her family. John shared with his son Paul C. Boyle his enjoyment in reading Clive Cussler and Barry Sadler novels and his strong work ethic and commitment to serving his family and friends. His granddaughter Leah M. Boyle will carry on John’s love for gaming. The laughter John brought to everyone who knew him will continue in the quick wit and sharp humor he’s passed down to his granddaughter Ayla V. Boyle. As with the rest of his family, the warmth in his eyes, the strength in his hugs, and the care, compassion, and acceptance John gave will be deeply missed by his daughter-in-law Gina Marie Ancira.
Though there will be no formal memorial service, those who knew and loved John will continue to honor and celebrate his life, his service, and the example he set for those around him.
Fair winds and following seas, Chief. Your watch has ended, but your legacy lives on in the sailors you led and the family you loved.
End of Watch
The ship is secure and the watch is relieved.
You stood your post with honor and courage.
Rest easy now, Chief — we have the watch.
Psalm 23, Mariner's Version
Captain J. Rogers
The Lord is my Pilot;
I shall not drift.
He leadeth me across the dark waters
and steereth me in the deep channels.
He keepeth my Log
and guideth me by the star of holiness
for His Name's sake.
Yea, though I sail amid
the thunders and tempests of life,
I shall dread no danger,
For Thou art with me;
Thy love and Thy care, they shelter me.
Thou preparest a harbor before me
in the homeland of eternity;
Thou anointest the waves with oil,
and my ship rideth calmly,
Surely sunlight and starlight
shall favor me all the days of my voyaging,
and I will rest in the port of my Lord forever.
