John Terry, Jr.

Husband to his one and only true love, the late Maxine Carol Terry, and father of 10, John was born in Dover, Florida on February 25, 1939, to John and Josephine Terry and left his earthly body peace fully while watching television on September 15, 2025.

After his father’s early death, John and his 4 brothers lived in an orphanage (his 3 sisters remained with his mother) until 17, when he began a 14-year career in the Navy. He then launched an independent career in landscape and irrigation, where his profound integrity, work ethics, technical skills and unique talent for design built him a formidable reputation for over 40 years.

John’s extraordinary marriage began in the tumultuous sixties when struggle, discrimination and misogyny created an opportunity to teach their children peace, tolerance and understanding. These core values bonded the family with enduring kindness and love.

John is survived by his sister Marie, brother Paul, his children Roger, Shannon, Cassie, Johnna, Jay, Tom, Kelly, Brooke, Cameron, Courtney, an honorary son Evans Howard, as well as 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
