Kelsey Marta Echagarrua, 31, passed away on July 8, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Boca Raton, Florida on May 12, 1994, Kelsey lived a life marked by fierce independence, sharp humor, and an undeniable sense of style.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and went on to complete her master’s in accounting at the University of North Florida. As an accountant, Kelsey brought precision and intellect to her work, but she never let it define her. She found joy in traveling, losing herself in books, discovering new music, and chasing down any experience that sparked curiosity, from unfamiliar cuisines to unexpected adventures.
Kelsey was nothing if not stubborn, in the best way. She stood her ground, knew who she was, and didn’t apologize for it. She could make you laugh even when you didn’t want to, and she did things on her own terms, in her own time, and with an eye for detail that made everything feel a little more intentional. She loved her friends and family fiercely and was deeply protective of the people she cared about. Kelsey was loyal to the core and never one to sit quietly if someone she loved needed defending.
She is survived by her father, Mario Echagarrua; her mother, Kelli Sheller; her siblings, Kelli Echagarrua, Robert Echagarrua, and Andy Echagarrua; her nephew, Ashton Echagarrua; and her sister-in-law, Brittany Bailey. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Echagarrua.
A private celebration of Kelsey’s life will be held in Boca Raton, FL, hosted by her family.
Kelsey moved through life with purpose, humor, and flair and those who knew her will never forget it or her. She will be deeply missed.
