Obituary

Kenneth Joseph “Kenny B.” Buettgen, 58, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 6, 1967, in Anchorage, Alaska, Kenny lived a full and vibrant life, always surrounded by the family and friends he cherished.

Kenny dedicated more than 37 years to a career in the communications field, spending most of those years with AT&T. Known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment, he was deeply respected by colleagues and loved ones alike.

A devoted family man, Kenny embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly. When he married in 1991, he became the proud father of a three-year-old daughter. He and his wife later welcomed two children together and, in time, opened their hearts and home to raise two grandchildren as well as his niece and nephew. Kenny stepped forward whenever he was needed, earning his affectionate reputation as “the man, the myth, the legend.”

He taught his children the importance of family, hard work, and responsibility—values he lived by every day. Watching his children grow and his grandchildren thrive brought him immense pride and joy.

An exceptional cook with an undeniable passion for the kitchen, Kenny often joked that he had missed his calling as a chef. He owned every gadget imaginable and loved preparing meals large enough to feed the entire neighborhood. He found great happiness in entertaining and in sharing meals, laughter, and love with those around him.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy Buettgen; his children and grandchildren: Toni Ann Miller, Nichole (T.J.) Copeland, Justin (Alexis) Buettgen, Anthony (Satomi) Christini, Gina Christini, Riley Hodges, Kayden Ash, Ryan Newman, Damon Jones, Adaline Buettgen, Liam Copeland, Gianna Lewis, and Nathaniel Buettgen; his parents, John and Janice Buettgen; his brother Jody (Betsy) Buettgen; and his sister Dawn Nicolosi. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and strength that will be remembered by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held in the near future to honor Kenny’s life and celebrate the impact he made on everyone around him.
