Obituary

Michael “Mike” Collier Searcy, 64, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026. Born May 5, 1961, in Jacksonville—a city he loved and proudly called home—Mike was the beloved son of Janet S. Searcy and the late Herbert C. Searcy.

A Jacksonville native, Mike graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1979. Over the years Mike put his energy into wrestling, baseball, and football. Known for a steady work ethic and quiet determination, he began his career driving trucks for Burger King and MCofA. Never one to stop learning, Mike continued his education at FCCJ and ultimately built a successful career in Information Technology, using his skills to support hospitals and corporations with reliability and care.

Outside of work, Mike’s joy was football, especially the Florida Gators and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He loved the ritual of game day, the debates over plays and players, and the simple togetherness that came with cheering on his teams. His enthusiasm was contagious and drew friends and family into the fun, turning ordinary weekends into lasting memories.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Collier Searcy. He is survived by his loving mother, Janet S. Searcy, and his dear sister, Kristen C. Searcy. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and connection for all who knew and loved him.

A service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m. (EST) at Franklin Street Baptist Church. Lunch will follow the service.

In Mike’s memory, let us carry forward what he gave so freely: loyalty to the people he loved, pride in the life he built, and a spirit that made room for laughter even in ordinary moments. His legacy lives on not only in what he accomplished, but in the warmth, joy, and steadfast presence he brought to family and friends. Rest in peace, Mike.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Mike and his long struggle with Type 2 diabetes by donating in his memory to the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
