Michael Walker Webb

September 29, 1956 — May 4, 2025

Jacksonville

After an almost 3-year battle with stage IV cancer, Michael “Mike” Webb peacefully passed away at 68 years old at Community Hospice for Caring at Baptist Medical Center South.

Michael was born in Albany, GA at the USAF Hospital Turner AFB where his father Arthur Webb was stationed at that time in the Airforce. Michael later joined the US Army in 1975 when he was 19 years old where he served as a rifle specialist M-16, a crewman repairing helicopters, and in the 82nd. Airborne Parachute Infantry, with an honorable discharge on April 12, 1983. When he returned to Jacksonville, Florida where his family lived, he decided to go work for a local security alarm company as a service manager, until the company was sold eventually. He was then inspired to get his own Florida low voltage contracting license and start his own alarm company “Security Alert!” that he owned and operated for 42 years.

Mike was always an adventurous and curious person which led him to have some interesting hobbies throughout his life. One of his main hobbies was boating and he owned many different kinds of boats. It didn’t matter to him which boat it was though, whether it was his houseboat or Jon boat, he was going on it. He also liked to go fishing anywhere he could and would go crabbing too. He was very creative as well and liked to make things out of wood such as diddley bows, boomerangs, bullroarers, and yard art that he thought was hilarious like an old man peeking over the fence with binoculars or a no pooping dog sign. He also loved watching the History or Discovery channel about aliens on his big screen tv and eat ice cream almost every night. He was really fascinated by aliens and said that he hoped to meet them one day. Over the last few years of his life, he’s liked to ride on his golf cart down to the dock next to Clark’s Fish Camp to hang out with all his buddies together. Some of his other hobbies have included catching snakes and breeding Siamese cats when he was younger, going on canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards, making motorized bikes, building model rockets and planes, going metal detecting, and gardening. Overall, Mike just liked to enjoy his life and spend quality time with his friends and family.

Mike had a big heart and was the kind of person that would always greet you with a smile. He loved to make everyone happy and make funny jokes or do silly pranks to make you laugh. He also had one of the most infectious laughs that would light up any room he was in. He was and always will be a loving, caring, and supportive husband and father to his wife, kids, and grandkids. He will be loved and missed dearly by all of his friends and family. May he rest in peace.

Michael is preceded in death by his Father Arthur Walker Webb, his Mother Sherrin Lynn Webb, and his brother Tom Webb. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Webb, children Stephen Webb, Rachel Webb, Andrew Castleman, brothers, Mark Webb, and Chuck Webb, and six grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday May 30th from 5 to 8 pm at the Mandarin Community Center on Mandarin Road.
