Raymond Francis Vearil, 89, of Jacksonville, FL passed away October 23, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL.

He was born in Loveland, OH on November 9, 1929 to the late Thomas Vearil and Irene (Hatte) Vearil.

Raymond will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was known to always lend a helping hand, and could fix just about anything. He also had a great sense of humor and was known to give those around him a good laugh. Raymond served our country in the United States Navy, from which he retired. He also retired after many years at the United States Postal Service. Raymond spent his retirement years traveling, visiting with family, being the church hand man and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Sybil (Quackenbush) Vearil; his brothers Thomas Vearil, William Vearil and Dale Vearil; his sisters Garnet Wilhelm, Mary D’Alessandro, Sue Adams, Deloris White, and Carolyn Dooley.

Raymond is survived by his sister, Colleen Hilliard, his children Wayne Vearil (Sandy), Gina Axley (David) and Carol Gorman (Felix), grandchildren Matthew Vearil, Tiffany Deckerhoff, Sasha Thornton (Justin), Hannah Estes and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
