Robert “Bob” Cox, Jr., age 68, passed away peacefully, Saturday August 15, 2026. Bob was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, son of Robert M. Cox, Sr and Mary Cox Barker. He graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School while living in Edgewater, FL. during his high school years.

He returned to Jacksonville and started his career with James Burns Florist and eventually moved on to the wholesale flower business with Pennock Floral Co. Bob worked as a Buyer/Account Rep and helped florists across the region prepare for weddings and events of every kind. He was a dedicated employee for 40 years until his retirement.

Bob loved to cook (and eat), always showing up to family gatherings with a dish in hand. His creations were delicious and sometimes… experimental, but either way he served them with pride and a big ole’ grin and the family loved it. Bob also enjoyed gardening, always looking to expand his knowledge of plants and flowers. He adored animals…all animals, even the racoon that would come up in the backyard to finish eating the cat’s food. He enjoyed watching the Jaguars play, the History channel and of course any cooking shows.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his older sister Mary Chappell Brock.

He is survived by his longtime friend, James Ashley; older sister, Brenda Bowman; younger sister, Elizabeth Hamer (Ray); nieces, Gail Alexander (Goober) and Leslie Massengill; nephew, Brian Chappell (Barbara). Great nephews, Matthew Massengill and Carter Chappell; great niece, Lindsey Chappell. Great-great niece, Raelyn and great-great nephew, Kaedyn.

He will be remembered for his gentle nature, kindness and sense of humor. His memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
