Segundina Avendano Wallace

January 15, 1964 — August 28, 2025

Jacksonville

Segundina Avendaño Wallace, lovingly known as “Dhennie”, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on August 28, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on January 15, she was the daughter of Candida and the late Alejandro Avendaño, and she lived a life filled with faith, love, and unwavering strength.

Dhennie shared nearly 27 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Charles Wallace—their anniversary would have been on August 30, just two days after her passing. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their children Angeline (Brendon) and Jeremiah. She also lovingly embraced her stepchildren Diane, Ronald, and the late Stephen.

She was a proud and adoring Mimi to Braelyn, Owen, and Scotlyn, who brought her immeasurable joy. Dhennie is also survived by her beloved mother, Candida, and siblings Epsi, Teddy, and Mar. She was preceded in death by her father, Alejandro, and siblings Flory and Lou Lou.

Her greatest act of love began in the Philippines, when she found her daughter Angeline in a mall as her biological mother was preparing to give her up. In that moment, Dhennie chose to become her mother, later adopting her and bringing her to America to give her a better life. It was this deep devotion that inspired her to pursue a nursing degree so she could immigrate and build a future for them both.

After first earning a degree in accounting, Dhennie devoted herself to nursing to fulfill her dream of providing for her family in the United States. Once established, she eventually returned to her first passion—accounting. She loved numbers and finances, and had a gift for helping others solve financial challenges with wisdom and compassion. For over 26 years, she faithfully served at New Life Christian Fellowship and Providence School, where she rose from Bookkeeper to Comptroller, leading with diligence, integrity, and care.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dhennie’s life was defined by her love for God, her devotion to her family, and her generous heart for others. She loved fishing with Charles, traveling, exercising, gardening, and caring for her health with unwavering determination. Even while courageously battling breast cancer for 10 years, she embodied resilience, faith, and hope. Those who knew her will remember her kindness, forgiveness, practicality, intelligence, and her ability to see the good in everyone.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on September 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Christian Fellowship. At her request, guests are encouraged to wear bright colors that reflect the love and light that she brought into the world.

Dhennie’s legacy of faith, love, and integrity will live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
