Obituary

Susan Green Mock, 81 years old, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, after a long battle with COPD. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones in her final days.

Susan was born on July 16, 1944, in Salem, NJ, to the late George K Green and Ellen R Zane.

Susan graduated from Woodstown High School in 1962. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Glassboro State College (now named Rowan University) in 1980.

Susan married William D Mock Jr. on July 16,1988 in Woodstown, NJ and they shared 37 years of marriage.

Susan worked as a Senior Accountant at Kemper, A Unitrin Business prior to retirement. She built many lasting friendships throughout her career as an Accountant at the many places that she worked in NJ, IL and Jacksonville, FL.

She was an avid lover of the beach, listening to the waves crashing on the shore while soaking up the warm sun. She and Bill enjoyed riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the warm Florida weather. She enjoyed her morning coffee watching and listening to the birds that would visit her bird feeder outside her patio. She treasured her friendships and remained friends with several high school classmates and co-workers through the years.

Susan will always be remembered for her friendly smile, her kindness and for her direct approach to all that life brought her way. She was a very strong-willed, hardworking, independent woman who did whatever she had to do to provide for her 3 children.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband (William D Mock Jr), her grandparents, parents and her two older siblings – George Green and Nancy (Green) Drummond.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle and husband Richard VanHouten and their 4 children and 4 grandchildren; her son Scott Guest and wife Jackie and their daughter; and her daughter Gia Gibson.

Funeral services/Interment will be held at 2:30 PM on June 12, 2026, at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Pastor Brett Johns officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind and caring staff at River Gardens Rehab for their gentle caring for Susan, and their hospitality for the family prior to her being moved to Community Hospice at Baptist South Medical Center where she received exceptional care while in Hospice. We are sincerely grateful for Brett and Shirley Johns from Christian Family Chapel for visiting Susan, praying for her and sharing the Gospel with her in her final days.
