Tom Markham

February 12, 1937 — April 22, 2025

Jacksonville

Tom Graduated Landon High School in 1955 and attended Jacksonville University. In 1959, he built and operated his first recording studio, Magnum Studio, on Lovegrove Road (now University Blvd.) He began working as a camera operator in 1961 at WJTC Channel 4 television in Jacksonville and later formed his own publishing company Shade Tree Records with his partner Jim Sutton at Norm Vincent Recordings. While at the Vincent Studio Tom and Jim recorded and produced many famous artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, and Mother's Finest.

His 2 children, Nancy Carole and Thomas Jr. were born in the 60's. In 1975 he and his partner Ray Lynn formed the Warehouse Studio, one of Jacksonville's most successful recording studios where many local musicians and groups such as Molly Hatchet got their start. Skip Osmundsen became Tom's partner and engineer at the Warehouse from 1977-1990.

Tom was able to use his talents and success in the field of audio and sound at the First Baptist Church in Downtown Jacksonville as their audio engineer for the church's live broadcasts each Sunday for 20 years while still maintaining and expanding the Warehouse studio into Jacksonville's only full service recording, production and cassette duplicating facility. In 2005 Tom sold the Warehouse Studio and retired with his wife Elsie where he pursued an endless list of hobbies which included gardening, cooking, and even a small recording studio in his backyard. He is survived by his wife Elsie Markham of 31 years, his daughter Nancy Carole Markham, his son Thomas Hubbard Markham Jr, and his stepson Terry Lee Bridges Jr.
